It was the ancient Greek, Hippocrates, who said “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” ... and we at Hunza believe that delicious food not only nourishes the body, but when shared with friends and family, brings a huge amount of happiness and contentment to the soul.

It starts with produce freshly harvested from our organic garden. Tasty dishes are then created with flair and prepared with care, and it ends with you... relaxed and eating around a large table, surrounded by good company. The food vibrations are grown and created by your passionate hosts. Milady is gardener and herbalist, Roeland your professional farm-to-table chef. This, along with the perfect setting of our garden terrace, is our recipe to share our passion for food in several ways...

During summertime, a few times a week, you can make a reservation to our home cooking evenings, when we gather around our large table on the terrace to enjoy local and fresh produce prepared by your on-site chef. Savour the flavour of Mediterranean herbs and delight the senses with eastern spices. With good company and a glass of something cold, our laid-back home cooking evenings really do provide food for the soul!

In summertime the famous Hunza breakfast can be ordered. Our own produce combined with the best selection of local products will be brought to your accommodation between 8 and 9 AM.

As our garden grows, an assortment of homemade products grows throughout the season. When you arrive, you can discover which herbs, fruits, vegetables, bread, and other products are available in our fresh weekly assortment.

What could be better than the smell of freshly baked bread, brewed morning coffee or the taste of a warm, sun-ripened tomato. It’s all here at Hunza and we’d love to share it with you!

Perhaps you’d like to learn more with some practical, hands-on experience?

A Hunza workshop is the way to do it! We have interesting programs about ecological/permaculture gardening, Mediterranean and Eastern vegetarian cooking, and medicinal herbal products. For a minimum of 10 people we would be happy to offer a workshop customized to your interests. Feel free to contact us for more information, programs and reservation.

Milady and Roeland, both aspirant-sommeliers, are passionate about wines ... which gave them a very good reason to move to the Baranya region. Dry whites from the Pécsi AOP, or full bodied reds from the Villány AOP are the top Hungarian wines produced in our province. We’d love to help you discover the beauty of the Hungarian grape varieties with up-to-date information, fine wines which reflect the different terroirs, with tasty tapas on the side. Our tastings are supported by several local wine makers, whose cellars and vineyards we visit regularly.
